Greg Rutkowski’s Vision of Melniboné
We’re absolutely delighted to announce Greg Rutkowski as the artist for Elric of Melniboné, the first entry in our six-volume edition of Michael Moorcock’s legendary Chronicles of Elric series.
Greg is known for his brooding skies and magnificent dragons—a signature style honed over more than fifteen years creating work for Wizards of the Coast, Sony, and Ubisoft, including dozens of Magic: The Gathering cards and Dungeons & Dragons covers.
That signature is on full display here: Elric stands with Stormbringer before the Dreaming City as the dragons of Melniboné wheel overhead. This piece will appear on the cover of the Collector’s Edition and be included as a foldout in the Deluxe and Lettered Editions.
Every piece of artwork in this series is being developed in close collaboration with Michael Moorcock, ensuring Elric’s world comes to life as he imagined it.
New Pre-Order Date
We’re adjusting our schedule slightly. Elric of Melniboné is now scheduled to open for pre-orders in early October (likely October 5th, but we’ll confirm close to that date). Pre-orders for Isaac Asimov's Second Foundation will now open in November to ensure that all collectors receive their copies of Foundation and Empire first.
Edition Details
All six volumes of The Chronicles of Elric will be letterpress-printed and feature newly commissioned artwork. Each volume will be limited to 776 copies in three states: 500 unnumbered copies of the Collector’s Edition; 250 copies of the Deluxe Edition, each hand-numbered #1–250; and 26 copies of the Lettered Edition, individually inscribed A–Z.
All copies will be signed by the artist of the respective volume, and Michael Moorcock will be signing all Deluxe and Lettered copies.
There’s additional information on our announcement page and we'll share more about the first volume as we get close to the pre-order date.
