We’re delighted to share that acclaimed artist Julien Delval is illustrating our upcoming edition of Guy Gavriel Kay’s Tigana. All three editions—Collector’s, Deluxe, and Lettered—will be issued in two volumes.

While Julien is already an established interpreter of Guy’s unforgettable worlds, this project marks his most expansive visual realisation to date. Our edition features 17 full-colour paintings and 9 pen-and-ink illustrations—a body of work that reflects not only the grandeur of the story but the depth of Julien’s talent.

All of the artwork will be included in each of the three editions, with all colour illustrations reproduced in full colour throughout.

Today, we’re unveiling the first two of these remarkable paintings. Each piece, rendered in Julien’s signature style and exquisite brushwork, captures the sweeping beauty and quiet melancholy that define Tigana.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more of his artwork, leading up to the full edition reveal on Monday July 28th. Pre-orders will open to the public on Friday August 1st.

Tigana is one of my favourite books and it has been an honour to collaborate with Julien, Guy and the rest of the team on this edition. I’m really proud of the work everyone has put into these books and I look forward to sharing more with you soon.

Update on Deluxe Rights

When Conversation Tree Press started out, our Deluxe Editions were limited to 200 copies. This allowed us to offer 150 copies with “publisher rights,” giving collectors of numbers #1–150 the opportunity to pre-order matching copies of the next title from the Press during a private pre-order window.

With our forthcoming Deluxe Editions now set at a minimum of 250 copies, we’re pleased to expand the number of rights-bearing copies to 200. Starting with Tigana, Deluxe Edition copies numbered #1–200 will include these rights.
