April 2026 Gyaff
Lots of updates this month again: a new Short Stops coming next week, remaining copies of Rip Van Winkle available on Thursday, Danielle and I heading to London in April, printing completed for two more books. Read on for all the details.
Our Next Short Stops
The most recent Short Stops edition (teaser photo at the top of this page) just arrived here at CTP HQ and we’ll be making copies available to current rightsholders starting on Monday April 6th at 10am ET and then to the public on Wednesday April 8th at 10am.
We’ve left a number in the UK again to allow for lower shipping costs for European collectors.
This one is quite special:
- Letterpress-printed on Neenah 100% cotton Letterpress paper.
- Signed by the author and illustrator.
- Three full-colour pieces of artwork, all fold-out and tipped in by hand.
- The story is expanded from its original publication and the author considers it his preferred and final version.
- Marbled paper by Renato Crepaldi.
Remaining Copies of Rip Van Winkle
The final few copies of Rip Van Winkle Deluxe Edition will be made available on the website on Thursday April 2nd at 10am ET at this link:
https://conversationtreepress.com/collections/all/products/rip-van-winkle-washington-irving-deluxe
These copies all ship from Canada and none of them carry rights. These are not dinged copies, but a handful we held back to ensure we did not oversell the edition. Please note that due to a change of plans, Subterranean Press will not be carrying copies of Rip Van Winkle.
April Visit to England
Danielle and I will be in London for a few nights starting April 12th visiting some of our publishing friends and colleagues, coinciding with the British Book Design and Production Awards where some of them are nominated. After Danielle returns home I’ll be staying on for a little while longer and heading to Nomad Letterpress and Ludlow Bookbinders.
Individual Title Updates
Weird. Volume 2: Ramsey Campbell’s Cold Print & Others
Cold Print & Others is coming along well at the bindery. All artwork has been tipped in for all three states.
The cases and slipcases for all of the collector’s Edition are completed, the books just need to be cased in now.
The Deluxe and Lettered top edges have been gilded and the leather caps for the slipcases are being put on before the side wraps, leather spines have been affixed to the boards and are being blocked now.
The leather tentacles for the Lettered are being cut out and tested against the debossing on the leather.
We’re still hoping to start shipping at the end of April, but there’s a chance the books will be sent to us in the last week of April, so we’d start shipping in the first week of May.
Jule’s Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas

Printing was completed for Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas in January and it is in the queue at the bindery. Shipping is still expected in May 2026.
Guy Gavriel Kay’s Tigana

We approved all of the book blocks from Gomer of Guy Gavriel Kay’s Tigana. The artwork, printed separately, is now being manually tipped into every copy and we expect the completed Deluxe and Lettered book blocks to head over to Ludlow by the end of next week.
The Collector’s Edition book blocks will remain at Gomer while the cloth covers are printed, and Gomer will be casing them in and sending them to Ludlow for slipcases to be made.
This one has slipped a bit and we’re now expecting shipping in July 2026. Apologies for this and thank you for your continued patience.
Isaac Asimov’s Foundation and Empire
Printing is completed for Isaac Asimov’s Foundation and Empire as well, so we’re a little ahead of schedule on this one. It joins the others at Ludlow Bookbinders. Shipping is expected in August 2026.
Emily St. John Mandel’s Sea of Tranquility
Printing is completed for Emily St. John Mandel’s Sea of Tranquility! We received a set of book blocks for each of the three papers to triple check everything before it goes to Ludlow. Shipping is expected in November 2026.
China Miéville’s Perdido Street Station
We’re hard at work on Perdido Street Station. The typesetting is complete and about to be sent off for proofreading, all the sketches have been approved with artwork now proceeding nicely, and prototypes are being worked on. Pre-orders at the end of June.
Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash

I'm working on the interior layout for the upcoming edition of Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash, which we’re co-publishing with Subterranean Press. All of the artwork is completed and the limitation pages are making the rounds now.
Michael Moorcock’s The Chronicles of Elric
All of Marc Simonetti’s sketches have been approved by the author for Stormbringer, the sixth entry in The Chronicles of Elric, and we expect to wrap up the artwork in the coming weeks.
We’re working on sketches for the first book with an artist we have not yet announced for Elric of Melniboné, the first book, and they’re coming along really well.
As I've mentioned before, we’ve put together an absolutely stellar lineup of artists for this series and I’m thrilled at how it’s coming together.
We’re aiming to open pre-orders for the first book in November this year, with one book to follow each year thereafter.
Lord Dunsany’s The King of Elfland’s Daughter
We’re about to start typesetting The King of Elfland’s Daughter illustrated by Annie Stegg. We already have ideas for the bindings in mind and will be working towards those later this year. We’ll be putting in an order for the handmade paper for the Lettered Edition soon. Pre-orders for this title are expected in February 2027.
Cormac McCarthy’s The Road
Illustration work continues on Cormac McCarthy’s The Road.
Our order with the Velké Losiny paper mill for the custom, watermarked handmade paper for the Lettered and Roman Numeral remains in the queue.
We expect The Road to open for pre-orders in the second half of 2027.
Josiah Bancroft’s The Everyman’s Guide to the Tower of Babel
Having completed the artwork for his Elric book, Julien has some other work to catch up on before starting on Josiah Bancroft’s The Everyman’s Guide to the Tower of Babel. We still expect this one to be ready this year.
Stephen King’s The Jaunt
The artist for Stephen King’s The Jaunt has started work and we’re in the third round of proofreading for the text, so it’s coming along really well.
qntm’s There Is No Antimemetics Division
The artist for qntm’s There Is No Antimemetics Division is on board and re-reading the book now so we anticipate starting on artwork in the coming weeks. We will be putting this one up for sale when it’s ready to ship and we don’t have a date yet. Stay tuned to the newsletter.
Octavia Butler’s Kindred
We’ve been working with the artist on the artwork for Octavia Butler’s Kindred for a while now and it’s coming along really well. This title is currently scheduled for next year.
That’s it for now, thanks for reading if you made it all the way down here, and for your support which makes this all possible.
Best wishes,
Tony and Danielle
