The Deluxe state of Peter Pan, our very first book, has won second place at The Alcuin Society Awards for Excellence in Book Design in Canada. The winning books from the competition are exhibited both nationally and internationally, and nominated for the Best Book Design from all over the World competition in Leipzig, Germany. A copy will also become a part of the permanent collection at Deutsches Buch- und Schriftmuseum (German Museum of Books and Writing).

This is the third and final piece in a three-part series sharing some of the decisions and thinking behind our edition of Treasure Island. The first two were Typesetting Treasure Island and Illustrating Treasure Island.

Despite the abundance of Treasure Island interpretations, Marc Castelli and I felt there was an opportunity to do something unique in creating an edition that embraces the story’s darker aspects: gritty, realistic, and willing to capture some of the more somber moments.

I was introduced to Treasure Island as a child in the form of the Moby Books Illustrated Classic Edition. Small, abridged, and with illustrations on every other page, these books were a great way to not only begin reading more advanced books, they were a great introduction to a wide array of classic literature. 

We’re honoured that our Kickstarter campaign for our edition of Treasure Island was selected as a Project We Love by Kickstarter, their “way of highlighting brilliant examples of creativity.”

Our next edition will be revealed and open for pre-orders at the same time on Tuesday February 13th at 10am ET. It will be available from both our website (for rights-holders only) and through our first Kickstarter campaign, allowing our books to reach an even wider audience.
